In the grand tradition of starving oneself before one’s wedding day, I have begun a rather unsustainable and irrational crash diet. 40% of the time, crash dieting works every time, experts say. So this gal has taken to drinking smoothies for breakfast (fast forward to midnight and I’m raiding the fridge for leftover Fettucini Alfredo, but that’s beside the point). But don’t worry… crash diets aren’t just for the betrothed. Nay, any illogical lady is allowed to partake in the fun. Bathing suit season is juuuuuust around the corner!
I am, of course, kidding. I wish I had that discipline. But this lazy-pants was too lazy to head to the grocery store for some nick-nacks to cook for today’s post. So, I raided the fridge and decided to post about my go-to afternoon smoothie-treat of late. She’s easy to throw together and super delicious to chug down.
Into your blender, throw the frozen berries, Greek yogurt, POM juice, flax seeds (my new obsession… move over gogi berries!), ice cubes, and mint. Blend her up for 10-20 seconds and pour into a tall glass. This makes about 3 cups o’ Heaven.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup frozen berries (I did a mix of raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries)
- ½ cup non-fat Greek yogurt
- 1 cup POM juice
- ¼ cup flax seeds
- 6 ice cubes
- A handful of fresh mint leaves
Makes one 3 cup smoothie

Truly beautiful color! Can you wear it?
I’ve never heard of anyone putting pomegranate and mint together before. Such a good combo idea!!! Bet that’d make a good sorbet too.. And Mrs. McNamara, I agree, Bin would look great in that color.
The weather has been heating up here in Ontario. It’s practically summer already. This looks like a great snack for a hot day!
Have you ever had to grind flax seeds while suffering a migraine to finish up a ridiculously stressful muffin project? Hmmm? Oh those were the days. You’re smoothie looks awesome. My brother has the best little blender ever called the Magic Bullet (I’m trying to imagine the advertising on that one) that’s basically a mini inverted blender so you can use the vessel to not only make the smoothie but drink out of it too. Hope you’re well and congrats on the engagement!
ahhh the muffin project… good times.
